D.P. McManus Celebrates His Early Years With a Fresh Tour Expansion
Elvis Costello has announced an extended run of his “Radio Soul!: The Early Songs of Elvis Costello” tour, adding 22 new dates that will carry the show through key cities on the East Coast and into the Midwest. This second leg kicks off on September 18th in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and concludes on October 22nd in Omaha, Nebraska.

This expansion follows the already anticipated first leg of the tour, which sees Costello & The Imposters joined by guitarist Charlie Sexton for a month-long journey across the U.S., beginning June 12th in Seattle and wrapping up in Miami Beach on July 12th.
As the tour’s title playfully signals, “Radio Soul!” is a curated retrospective focused on Costello’s output from 1977’s My Aim Is True through 1986’s Blood & Chocolate—a nine-year span that defined an era and yielded some of the most iconic songs in his catalog. Fans can expect classics such as “Watching The Detectives,” “I Want You,” and enduring live staples like “Alison,” “Man Out Of Time,” and “Brilliant Mistake”—songs that have followed The Imposters onstage for over two decades.
In reflecting on the thematic scope of the tour, Costello shared his perspective with characteristic wit and humility:
“For any songwriter, it has to be a compliment if people want to hear songs written up to fifty years ago. Among them, ‘Radio Soul,’ the first draft of what eventually became ‘Radio Radio.’”
When asked why this particular moment in his discography is taking center stage now, Costello offered a typically nuanced answer:
“You can expect the unexpected and the faithful in equal measure. Don’t forget this show is ‘Performed by Elvis Costello & The Imposters,’ an ensemble which includes three people who first recorded this music and two more who bring something entirely new. They are nobody’s tribute band. The Imposters are a living, breathing, swooning, kicking and screaming rock and roll band who can turn their hands to a pretty ballad when the opportunity arises.”
In its conception and execution, “Radio Soul!” is billed as less a nostalgic exercise and more a living conversation between past and present—one carried by a band still full of fire and capable of deep tenderness. For longtime fans and newcomers alike, this promises to be not just a celebration of where it all began, but a vivid reminder of the staying power of these songs and the artists who bring them to life.
