The Anniversary Features a Playlist, New Photos, and the 2010 Documentary
Forty-five years ago, Bruce Springsteen returned with the highly-anticipated release - and one of my favorite Springsteen albums - of his classic fourth studio album Darkness On The Edge Of Town. To celebrate the anniversary, listeners can now dive even deeper into the sonic and visual worlds of “Darkness” with a new 20-song live playlist from the '78 tour — plus a collection of rare Frank Stefanko photos from the era and a newly-cut trailer for The Promise: The Making Of Darkness On The Edge Of Town by director Thom Zimny.
Listen to 20 live standouts from The Darkness Tour '78 — all previously unavailable on major streaming platforms — including performances of every song from “Darkness On The Edge of Town” and a trove of bonus material from that period. You can hear it here.
Frank Stefanko's photo album of rarely-seen material from the “Darkness”era, including new looks at the iconic cover shoot and the full E Street Band circa 1978. Just take a look below.
In celebration of forty-five years of “Darkness on The Edge of Town” revisit “The Promise” documentary from 2010, which chronicles the making of the album with historic footage and interviews.
