WhyHunger Hosts Annual Hungerthon in NYC, Oct. 15

In today’s highly politicized world, it’s easy to overlook issues that transcend political lines—like hunger, a persistent challenge for countless families across the nation and globally. On October 15, WhyHunger will host Amplified! - its annual Hungerthon concert at New York City’s Irving Plaza - sponsored by EY, featuring performances by The Roots, Grace Bowers, and special guests.

WhyHunger was founded in the 1970s by musician Harry Chapin and radio DJ Bill Ayres, who shared a vision to fight world hunger. Chapin’s legacy of civic engagement is legendary, while Ayres’ journey could easily inspire a Hollywood film—look him up if you haven’t already. Their mission began with a simple commitment and has grown into a global nonprofit celebrating 49 years of championing social movements and grassroots solutions to combat hunger and poverty.

Based on the belief that access to nutritious food is a basic human right, WhyHunger works to tackle hunger at its roots by addressing the systems and policies that perpetuate it. They’ve also partnered with iHeartRadio, their Premier Audio Partner for Amplified, to leverage the power of music in the fight for food justice.

Tickets for the Hungerthon concert are available now, with all proceeds going directly to support WhyHunger’s initiatives. For more information, visit WhyHunger.org/Amplified.
